These were the limited promo/freebie zines given away to those who pre-ordered the "AA Records, We're Back!" series reissue CD's in 1991. Doesn't actually say "AA Records Book" anywhere on it but I remember that's what it was called in the old Doll magazine ad and the zine originally in a sealed bag with a little sticker on it which had "AA Records Book" printed on it. Contains mostly the reprints from the first issue of "P.O.W." and just a few rare early AA Records ads.

Another total ADK Records and The Stalin worship from the mid '80s. Produced by Zombie, the bassist from Gas. Released on Gas' Jisatsu Label which tried to focus on putting out the records by the lesser known bands from the non-major cities at that time, such as this band, Nikudan, Ziga, The Sexual, Confuse on the Jisatsu Omnibus. Don't miss this great flexi out if you dig this particular style of '80s Japanese bands like Kikeiji, Aburadako, Masturbation, The Stalin, Sekinin-Tenka, The Sadist, Shoujo-Ningyo etc. "Aka" is a Japanese word for "red".

Extremely rare and totally amazing live photo book featuring lots of classic '80s Japanese Punk/Hardcore bands as well as a few obscure ones. 2~4 pages by each band. Color and B&W photos taken circa '83~'84. The front and back covers are The Stalin. Kuro(4 pages), The Stalin(4 pages + covers), Aburadako(4 pages), Sodom(ADK-era!!!), Bloodbury(a.k.a. Bloodberry, Tam's last band!!! = G-Zet + ex-Bitousha/Rebel/Sekinintenka members), The Star Club(5 pages), Kyaah, Kenzi, The Willard, Zelda, P-Model, Malin Conia, The Continental Kids, Cock C'nel, Machizo Machida(Inu), Sadie Sads, Bunretsu etc. A lot of these photos have never been published elsewhere. Full-color covers and glossy pages. Also contains the fantastic 3-page ADK Records article/discography(incl. detailed pressing infos & release month/year) with Tam's comments, and some zine reviews. Probably the best thing about this book is that it has the ultra-rare(and awesome looking!) live photos of early Sodom from their early HC era, and ofcourse Bloodberry!!(Hiromi looks fucking hot!!) If you're a serious ADK fan/collector, you know these bands are the very important part of the Japanese HC/Punk history and how hard to even find their photos. These are some of the very few existing official photos by them. Killer large color live shots of Bloodberry's female singer Hiromi(ex-Rebel & Bitousha) and a few small shots of Tam, which must have been taken right before he disappeared(or died?). Never actually seen their photos or early Sodom photos elsewhere, and especially since Bloodberry got to play only a very few shows after changing the name from G-Zet, I doubt so many live photos of them even exist. This book was published by a small publisher that mainly did the underground sub-culture and porno magazines(a.k.a. "ero-hon"). Oddly, there used to be good amount of non-major porno mags covering the Punk/HC stuff in Japan back then. They were not widely distributed and you could buy them only from the porno vending machines(!!) often seen in Japan back in the '80s or some sleazy porno shops, definitely not from the regular book stores. Well known fact that Michiro Endo used to work for those companies as a part time model/actor and appeared in some of the mags and videos before The Stalin got on a major label. They're worth a lot of $$$ nowadays and The Stalin/Michiro collectors(in Japan) are looking for 'em.

The very first release by this Japanese crust band that's been putting out tons of records. This one is pretty hard to find nowadays.

Blue Jug No.15 - Zine - Blue Jug, 1984, Japan, Full-color covers, 50 pages, B5 size, (No Cat. #) - $55 (SOLD)

Yes, this zine was done by Blue Jug Records, the label that put out the first two Kuro records and co-released the Gai and Confuse flexi's with Violent Party label. The Blue Jug zine/label was active in the '80s Kyushu punk scene. The zine usually featured a bunch of local punk, hardcore and new wave bands such as The Swankys, Gai, Kuro, Confuse, No Cut, Gess, Lydia Cats, The Rockers, The Roosters, Modern Dollz etc. as well as some non-Kyushu area bands. I've seen a few different issues with the rare live photos and the demo review of Sieg-Heil. Although this particular issue(No.15) seems to contain less HC articles than the other issues I've seen, the awesome thing about is that the large, full-color Kuro photo on the front cover. Looks really cool. Also two pages with more photos and interview by them, as well as the release ad for the "Who The Helpless" 8" EP. What makes this issue even more special is that, there's actually a small Sieg-Heil live photo from "Control Gig"(the series gigs organized by Gai) that's not available elsewhere. Yes, you heard it right, the actual Sieg-Heil photo is in this zine. Their photos or articles are so rare to find that even the Overthrow Records dude requested the people(esp. old punks from Kyushu) to send in any possible existing photos prior to the 12" reissue, so he could print them on the insert and such, however didn't get so many responses(as you can see the results if you own the 12").

Rare Japanese release on Selfish Records(the first release of the label). The songs were recorded with Mower on vocals during their first Japanese tour in '85. The studio and live tracks on each side. Gauze, Sakevi, Lip Cream, Ghoul, Execute, Outo, Gastunk are credited in the thanks list. Legendary 1st LP by Cobra. Includes 12 tracks. This is the original 1st pressing that comes with a bonus 7" flexi, containing the exclusive unreleased tracks "Everybody Messed Up" & "Doing All Right". All the lyrics are printed on an inner-bag sleeve. An absolutely essential LP. Earlier line-up with ex-Zouo bassist Happy. He later joined Gudon as a singer in Hiroshima and did vocals on most of their records.

Featuring their best line-up ever with Naoki(ex-orig. Cobra & Laughin' Nose, now in SA) and Pon(ex-Nashi & Laughin' Nose, now in L.N. again). Totally killer live footage. Professionally recorded and packaged.

Well worth getting it for Chitose's picture on the front sleeve alone! And, who said this album is bad?! Really heavy, aggressive and metallic punk. It's defintely not a "bad metal record"! It's just in a different style from what they sounded like earlier. I dig this album.

Confuse "Spending Loud Night" 7" EP - Kings World, 1987, Japan, (Confuse 6/KK 1001C) - $55 (SOLD)
Their earliest recording from 1983(possibly from their 1st demo), even before the "Indignation" demo and the "Nuclear Addicts" flexi. Kings World Records put it out the four years after. These tracks are ultra-raw and noisy. Classic Kyushu noise-core at its best.

Confuse "Stupid Life" 12" - Kings World, 1989, Japan, 1000 pressed, (KW12CS-004) - $98 (SOLD)
The hardest to find Confuse record in awesome condition. Since at least a few thousand copies each of their other records(except the 1st flexi) were pressed, it makes sense why this one, being limited to 1000 copies, don't pop up as often as the others do. Also, this 12" was released in 1989 and not 1992 like some websites say. The reissue CD came out in 1992. I remember seeing copies of this 12" on the shelves at some record shops in Japan when it first came out sometime before the '90s.

Ultra-rare official collection CD from 1989. It was released on a major label(!!) and for some unknown reason went out of print like a month after its release. Contains a FULL version of the "Nuclear Addicts" flexi('84) with an outtake track "Merciless Game" from the same recording session that was omitted from the actual flexi release, "Contempt For The Authority..." EP, and tracks from the "Jisatsu Omnibus" comp. 8" EP('84) and the "Neo?" comp. LP('88, mega-rare Kyushu punk/wave comp.)

The title says it all. Ultra-fast, raging and angry as fuck, thrash hardcore from Denmark. For fans of Amdi Petersens Arme, Vitamin X, Incontrollados, DS-13, E.T.A., Lokum, Punch In The Face, Septic Death, Siege, Heresy, Larm etc. Fucking intense shit.

Another unknown but a killer '80s band from Kyushu(Nagasaki). Not exactly in the "typical" noisecore style that came out of the Kyushu area, but still AWESOME noisy and chaotic HC/Punk!!!! The first two songs sound kinda noisecore-ish and the last song is in The Swankys vein. Highly recommend for fans of The Swankys(early), Gai, Gess, Gedon, No Cut, Chaos CH, Dust Noise, Screaming Noise, Kings World Records stuff or early Disorder and Chaos UK. Rare self-released flexi by this great obscure band. Additional note: I recently acquired the info that the singer from this band is the same guy who did vocals for Gess, the Kyushu noisecore band known for thier killer demo on Gai's Violent Party label and the "Pinch & Ouch!" and "Down Town Street Punker" comp tracks. Can anybody confirm if this info is correct??

The EP tracks are just some crappy ass noise(although I know some of the noisecore freaks out there dig that record...), but on this tape they play more "established" crusty and solid noisecore. It's been one of my all-time favorite Crust War releases. Never seen the original one for sale outside of Japan. Might be of interest for those serious Crust War completists?

Think of a cross between Aburadako, Kikeiji, and The Stalin. If you like these bands, you'll love Doku-Buta! Another unknown but awesome ADK/The Stalin worshiped hard punk here. They even stole part of The Stalin lyrics and used it in one of their songs called "Egoist". The band bio printed on the sleeve says Doku-Buta is ex-Byogentai. I wonder if it's the same Byogentai that the L.S.D. singer was in!? Includes 7 tracks. Very rare!! Here's a review taken from an old MRR issue: "Translating as "Poison Pig," I expected a bit more weirdness than supplied, but this slab of plastic contains some neat tracks. They can do thrash, punk, proto-punk -- all with verve and gnarly-ass vocals and guitar. Reminds me a bit of early PERE UBU." ----- (Pere Ubu?! WTF...? I don't hear any Pere Ubu-ish sound in the Doku-Buta songs)

Speedy and melodic punk from Osaka. Really cool band that was actually quite well known in Japan back in the late '80s. Melodic but not in the "typical" bay area punk rock style. Definitely more in the vein of those British melodic punk bands from the late '80s to early '90s, with that Japanese punk catchiness. Very unique and original style of punk rock. Kinda hard to compare them to any other bands.

Alright, this is Down By Law from Japan, not the boring ass Epitaph band from the U.S. with the same name. Almost nobody knows about this band, but this EP rips hard as hell. Fast and heavy, straight-forward Japcore with great noisy guitar!! Great cover artwork, too. Could easily be on Selfish Records if it came out a few years earlier. Some of their songs remind me of Outo. Down By Law existed from the late '80s to early '90s. As far as I know, this is their only ever vinyl release by them.

Their 2nd EP with 4 blazing Japcore tracks. After this one they put out the "Fucker! Fucker! Fucker!" EP on Fast Nail Records and the split 12" with Jabara. Too bad they ended up breaking up without doing the full-length LP! The singer later formed Crossface with ex-members of Liberate, Ai and Jabara. The drummer formed The Slowmotions with an ex-Acid, Macrofarge & Liberate singer(btw, the early Slowmotions 7"s with him on vocals were great!) and the guitarist plays in Warhead.

Rare 3rd EP on Fast Nail Records, the old label ran by Zigyaku who plays/played in many bands like Judgement, Bastard, Gudon, Asylum, Germicide, Ogreish Organism, Half Years(and what else?) It's one of the only three releases that was put out by this short-lived but killer label. The other two are the Warhead and Forward EP's. The Forward EP is fairly easy to find here since the band sold some copies during their first U.S. tour, but for some reason the Warhead EP and this one are hard to come by. Anyways, what you get here is some top-notch Burning Spirits style, traditional Japcore in the vein of Judgement, Nightmare, Warhead, Forward, Crude, Bastard, Death Side etc. Done exactly in the way Japcore was meant to be. Fucking brilliant!!

Their only release with Chelsea(Poison/Death Side/Paintbox) on drums besides the Mino-5 tracks on the "Enjoy Your Youth..." comp LP which he also played drums on. The singer at that time, Chatara, later went on to form Geizz with Jotaro from Mobs, Last Bomb, Tetsu-Arrey etc.

The long out-of-print 1st EP by these crazy-ass, fucked-up, drug-filled, trans lovin', noisecore hippie crusties from Tokyo. I think they're already broken up though. Released on Paank Levyt, the Japanese HC label ran by some legendary dude known to be a totally rad weirdo who apparently often shows up at punk/hc shows all dressed up gangsta/hip hop style. Can't be more hardcore than that!

Kick ass Norwegian hardcore! This 7" was later reissued by Underestimated Records in the U.S., with a different photo on the front sleeve, but this one is the original pressing and is the first release by the now defunct label Kick N' Punch Records from Denmark.

FBI(Future Blast Israel) "Heavy Petting" Tape - Kings World, 1992, Japan, Outer slipcase package, (KWCT-004) - $38
Watch's unknown HC project band after The Swankys! This one is really cool. Musically, it doesn't sound like any of his other bands or projects. It's more in the vein of the '80s U.S. hardcore, but with that typical Watch-styled snotty vocals! The music is fast, simple and straight-forward hardcore but they sound somewhat humorous as most of his bands usually are. I mean, if you're the fan of The Swankys and the other Watch related bands, you know what to expect. Gotta love the band's name and what "FBI" stands for. However, they misspelled the word "Israel" and the package and cassette labels say "Islael", of course. This band might have been a one time studio-only project, but I'm not totally sure about it. Includes 13 tracks. The cardboard slipcase package says: "1st Demo Tracks Album". Very, very rare cassette-only, super obscure release on Kings World Records. Never been reissued on CD or vinyl. Yes, Kings World actually put out many limited tape releases that's not very well known, like the ones by The S.C.U.M., Bastly Backs(cool band!), The Last Child etc.

Freedom is definitely one of the most overlooked Japcore bands from this era. Criminally underrated in my opinion. Has possibly the shittiest and the worst front sleeve artwork I've ever seen. If just see the front sleeve and have never heard their music, you wouldn't wanna buy it. Inside the poster sleeve there are many band photos that's pretty enjoyable to look at. Musically, it's totally in the vein of Zouo, Mobs, Ghoul, GISM, Rapes, A.T.-Det, The Clay, The Execute, Geizz, Demolition etc. You get the idea. Dark, solid and metallic Japcore with that violent gruff vocal style ala Sakevi or Cherry. Really good and heavy shit! Includes 4 tracks, Suicide, Last Revolution, Shit Babies and Freedom System. The guitarist Belley also played in War Painted City Indian, Laughin' Nose and might also have been in Mohawks at some point. The only ever Freedom release and it's on AA Records. This EP is somewhat hard to come by, compared to some of the other early AA releases.

Gaizi also had a split EP with Gaki and that one is also kinda hard to come by.

This EP sounds waaaaay more HC and much better than their 1st flexi. Just in my opinion, although I think the flexi was great as well, and I'm sure some fans might dig that one better. Anyways, it seems that every release they put out, their music got harder, faster and more aggressive. What you get here is 169% raging, late '80s Selfish Records style, traditional Japcore at its best. Really powerful songs here. No wimpy shit. This 2nd EP is pretty hard to come by and is rarely seen for sale outside of Japan.

Rare original pressing on Gudon's Kagai Mousou Records. It's their 1st EP from when they were still playing dark and metallic HC. Early lineup with Osamoon from Nightmare. Griffin's early stuff sounds completely different from their later punk rock style. Back then they were playing gigs with the other local bands from Osaka like S.O.B., Outo, Nightmare, Rapes, Danse Macabre etc.

Pre-Zone!! Obscure Shizuoka-city Japcore band. This flexi is extremely rare and hard to come by. The only ever release by them besides a great '87 split demo with Exdead. Heavy-hitting, speedy and metallic Japcore in the tradition of those other great '80s Shizuoka-city bands ala Deadless Muss, So What, Rustler, Innocents, Mental etc. Completely unknown, but an awesome band!

Top-notch dark metallic crust from Niigata. Great EP by this pre-AGE band. One of the eariest Japanese crust bands. Hakuchi also had a split LP with Disclose. This is the hard to find, early release by Overthrow Records.

Definitely my most favorite current band from Japan now. An absolutely killer, female fronted HC with the huge influences from The Comes, Gas and The Stalin. Also I hear a bit of the ADK Records influence in some of their songs. Most of the songs sound very similar to The Comes in my opinion. Totally '80s Japanese HC/Punk worship here. If you see the sleeve artwork, listen to the record and nobody tells you they're a new band, you'll think this EP came out in the early or mid '80s. Not only their music is so amazing, the production, sleeve artwork/layout and the paper quality etc., these guys did it in the perfect "'80s Japanese Punk" way with that superb underground feel. There are three different pressings of this 1st EP. Originally released by the band themselves, 500 copies were sold out within 2 weeks(!). Limited to 600 copies of this 2nd press came out on HG Fact which also sold out immediately after its release. The 3rd pressing of 500 copies on colored vinyl were made shortly after. "Himei" is the Japanese word for "Scream".

A review taken from http://distortiontilyouvomit.blogspot.com : Germany's In Nomine Christi is the new band of the former Dekadent singer/ bassist Jogi and guitarist Hippy with some additional vocals by Tanja (also ex-Dekadent). The band uses a drum machine and samples as opposed to having a drummer. They play a mixture of the slow plodding pace Crust similar to Amebix meets the Industrial flavorings of Godflesh and early Pitchshifter, they also throw in faster more straight forward hardcore at times. Lyrics are in German and are highly political dealing the negative aspects of church, today's life, media and modern science but with an even more personal touch than they did in Dekadent. Kuro (白) "Fire" 7" EP & flexi - KPP, 1985, Japan, w/ "1984 Studio" flexi, 16-page booklet & sticker, (LM-0715/KPP-006) - $158
A complete package with a bonus flexi, photo booklet and logo sticker! The bonus flexi in this set is the "1984 Studio" version(black flexi), which seems to be harder to come by than the "1983 Gig" flexi(clear red). Contains the studio outtakes from the "Who The Helpless" 8" EP session, which isn't available on any of their other releases. The A4 size booklet contains lots of cool band photos and discography. All packaged in a large, logo printed envelope. The price may seem kinda high for this one but I paid more than I should have for it, too. Considering that I've seen it(a complete set) twice on ebay this year, the last one sold for $200 in June and another one in May for $153, I don't think it's that bad. Both were the version with the "1984 flexi", by the way.

Kuro (白) "2.5 AD 1984 Live" Tape - Kings World, 1992, Japan, Outer slipcase package, (KWCT-005) - $55
Very rare official cassette-only release on Kings World Records. It was later reissued on the CD format but this one is the original. Contains the full live set from one of their early shows. The sound quality is excellent. The best thing about this tape is that you get to hear a few unreleased songs(the titles unknown) that's not available on any of their other releases. Also contains the killer Kuro version of the Stooges cover song! Yes, in their early days, Kuro actually did many covers of the classic punk tunes by the Heartbreakers etc. This live recording is not the same as the one that's on the "Hardcore Damnation" double discography CD(that one was recorded in '86). The tape comes in a cool cardboard outer package.

Kyojinbyo (狂人病) "Fukkatsu" CD - Museum, 1989, Japan, (HC-900608) - $45
This is the super rare CD edition of their 2nd EP, with 8 bonus tracks. The bonus tracks are from the previously unreleased studio demo. Most of the fans probably didn't know this CD even existed. It's much harder to find than the original EP or their 1st flexi.

"L.O.X." stands for Lip Cream, Orange, and X. The project band by Naoki(Lip Cream), Act(Orange) and Yoshiki(X, the legendary metal band). Act also played a bass for S.K.V.(Sakevi solo project) in '95. Originally called Masami & L.O.X., with the ex-Ghoul singer on vocals. Their '88 live recording with him is included on the rare Masami 3CD & 7" box set on Sunshine Sherbet. He obviously hasn't done anything else with L.O.X. afterwards as he was in a coma since '89 til his death in '92. L.O.X. was such an unique project that featured several different Japcore singers doing vocals for them both live and studio. There's a kick-ass boot live video with Tokurow(Bastard/Judgement) singing for them exists(search "LOX Yoshiki" on Youtube). On this 7-track album, the each song has a different singer(except Toshi on the 2 songs). The main vocalists are Ishiya(Death Side), Butaman(Tetsu-Arrey), Toshi(X), Ranko(The Continental Kids), Koh Ito(Fools) and even Naoki sings on an entire song! Yes, Naoki from Lip Cream doing vocals & guitars. Mix of wide variety of music style from hardcore, punk, metal, thrash to rock'n'roll. It's the only ever release(besides that weird track on the Masami/Ghoul tribute CD) by them and is on a great label S.E.X./Sunshine Sherbet that also put out the Tetsu-Arrey 1st LP/CD, Masami solo LP, The Gaia 1st CD, Nickey & The Warriors 12", The Continental Kids LP's etc. Here's some more useless(?) infos for few obsessive collectors out there. This label was ran by the same dude from Ducasse Label(Kikeiji, Real EP's etc.) and Wechselbalg Records, who also runs I.D.N.(Inner Directs/I.D. Japan) which is a large distributor that has a HUGE tie to Sakevi, and exclusively distributes the G.I.S.M./Beast Arts releases. This is the rare original Captain Records pressing, not the recent reissue CD. Most of the CD releases on Captain Records(like this one, the Gas "Reincarnation" CD, The Willard CD etc.) are much harder to find than the original LP's, as the label didn't press so many copies of their later CD or vinyl releases right before the end of the label around 1990 or so. Just a few additional infos about this label, since not much is known about them outside of Japan: Their LP releases have been repressed so many times and tons of copies of most of the LP's were made during 1985~1988. Captain was definitely the independent punk label, however was quite big like, let's say, the almost-major label like Epitaph. The label was part of the magazine publisher called JICC that was making this great monthly sub-culture magazine called "Takarajima"(Treasure Island) which was one of the very few "major" mags(among others like Doll or Fool's Mate) featuring a lot of the underground punk/hc/wave bands back in the '80s(later turned into the porn mag in the '90s...) For those who might or might not care, the sarcastic joke lyrics for The Swankys song "ノーギャラ"(a.k.a. "Pop Rocker", a killer tune by the way) is about Captain Rec./Takarajima, and one line goes: "Senzuri magazine, Takarajima~~~♪♪!!"(The wankin' magazine, Takarajima~~~♪♪!!) Yes, some bands and fans thought the bands on Captain are "sell out". The funny thing is that this Swankys song is on the obscure Kyushu punk comp LP called "In The Panties" which was released on..... Captain Records!

Produced by Chelsea(Death Side/Paintbox). An obscure Japcore band that was active in the Tokyo area from the late '80s to early '90s, featuring J.J. You from Death Side on vocals! The original members of Mino-5 included Chelsea on drums, Katsuta(Tetsu-Arrey/Extinct Government) on bass and the guitarist from United. Yes, The Execute wasn't the only band Chelsea played the drums for. This is the only ever release by Mino-5 besides the "Enjoy Your Youth..." comp LP tracks from 1988. Guest choruses by Chelsea, Katsuta, Toku(Bastard) etc. Rare CD-only release on Selfish Records. Many of the late Selfish Records releases especially the CD's are pretty hard to come by. This one never originally issued with obi.

One of the very few non-ADK Records releases that was produced and engineered by Tam(The Stalin/Typhus/G-Zet/ADK), among the other records including the Masturbation flexi, Sodom tape and New Roteeka flexi. Very rare and great flexi by this obscure band from the "ADK Omnibus Vol.2" comp EP. Awesome Japanese HC here. 7 tracks of dark, metallic and aggressive as hell HC that sounds comparable to The Execute, Gas, Ziga, Rebel, L.S.D., Sex Complex Class or Bitousha. Brilliant.... fucking briliant!!!!

New Roteeka "Go or Stop!!" 7" flexi - Neo Family, 1985, Japan, 1000 pressed, Insert, New/Unplayed, (New Family Records-001) - $28 (SOLD)
Produced and engineered by Tam(ADK Records, The Stalin, Typhus, G-Zet etc.) This 1st flexi so damn good!!! I've collected all their records over the years and love them all but this one and the "Last Peace" 2nd EP are definitely their best. Contains the 5 tracks in wide variety of the Punk/HC style. The song "Hot Rod Man" is a killer fast HC, "Warrior" is a cool, mid-tempo heavy HC with gruff vocals and the last song "Panic Life" is a lightning-fast, aggressive and driving punk tune with lots of catchy choruses. This song is such a great punk anthem!! Tam wanted to release this flexi on his ADK label but since New Roteeka just started their own label, it ended up being the first release of New Family Records. You still get to hear that typical "Tam sound" on this release since he was the recording engineer and producer. Also the songs were recorded at Penta Studio, where all the ADK releases were recorded at. This one, the Molugu flexi, Masturbation flexi and Sodom cassette are the only non-ADK releases that Tam was involved as a producer/engineer. The New Roteeka members were very close to the bands like L.S.D., Ghoul, Nira-Kodomo and Gasatsu(their 2nd EP is on New Family Records and appeared on their comp LP as well) and often played the shows with those Japcore bands before they got huge with their later albums on Captain Records. They're actually on the Masami/Ghoul tribute CD. I'd highly recommend this flexi for any Japanese Punk/HC fans. Have such great memories in this band and seen them live a few times back in the late '80s. The Loft show is unforgettable!

Produced, engineered and released by Tam(The Stalin/Typhus/G-Zet/ADK Records). Rare 2nd EP with Tatsu(Gastunk/Dead Cops) on guitar and Euro(The Execute) on drums. The same female singer and bassist from the 1st flexi on Incest Records, which was the label ran by a Sha-London/Sex Imagination Drugs singer, that also put out the S.I.D., Sha-London and Paruo flexi's. While it's not as crucial as the 1st flexi, is still a great EP. Wish they've done an LP with this last lineup before breaking up though. This is actually one of my all-time favorite ADK releases.

The title translates to "Horny Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs" and the band name translates to something like "The Puking Virgin Organization".... Ultra violent, chaotic and speedy HC that reminds me of Kyojinbyo. The last track with female vocals sounds kinda like The Comes. This was the first record release by Satsugai Enka Vinyl(= Murderous Vinyl Chloride), the long-running cult HC label by The Crazy SKB from Kyoaku-Kyojindan, Headwasher, High Technology Suicide, QP Crazy and numerous other bands. The label started as Joker Records in '83, released the Barigade, Kyoaku-Kyojindan and Ningen Hormone flexi's, then changed the name to Satsugai Enka Vinyl in '88 and put out some tapes prior to this flexi release.

Special Sakevi issue. The main concept of this issue is "Death". This ultra-rare, awesome mag was edited and published by Sakevi from G.I.S.M.(co-edited by John Duncan!!). Lots of insane pics, artworks, interviews and articles about topics like war, death, execution, politics etc. Written in both Japanese and English. Not all of them, but most of the main, interesting contents were translated into English. Glossy, full-page color and b&w photos of Hanatarash, Hijokaidan, Psychic TV etc. Very rare full-page ad for the G.I.S.M. video release with a large live pic of Sakevi, Lip Cream ad, C.O.P. LP/T.P.C. Records ad, Hold Up Records ad, full-page Selfish Records ad etc. Sakevi himself interviewed the following people: John Duncan, Hanatarash, Medical examiners from Tokyo Medical Examiner's Office(Yes, the autopsy/death stuff here. There's actually a pic of Sakevi with the two examiners taken during the interview.),Mental hospital inpatient(No bullshit. Remember, it was done back in '85 and was in Japan...) etc. John also did a few other interviews. Some of the other interesting stuff to read are the How To Kill article and the personal short letter sent to Sakevi by the political prisoner/anarchist members of East Asia Anti-Japanese Armed Front. Very professionally done underground mag with the glossy covers and absolutely amazing contents.

Very, very rare and hard to find nowadays. This LP is so fucking awesome and is definitely much better than their earlier EP. One of the best '90s Japanese crust releases in my opinion. Dark, metallic, and dramatic Japanese crustcore at its best. Nice silver "grim reaper" artwork printed on a black textured paper sleeve.

Legendary Shizuoka-city Japcore! Produced by Minoru from Lip Cream. Split release by Selfish Records and Lip Cream's Dynamite label. This is one of the very few last Selfish Records releases that rarely pop up for sale, like the Gauze 3rd LP('91), Death Side/Chaos UK split CD('93), Death Side 2nd LP('91), Assfort CD('91), Acid 2nd LP('91) etc. While most of the Selfish releases before '90 were pressed in the large quantity of a few thousand each or more, the later ones that came out a little before the label ended were pressed in the much smaller quantity and probably no represses either. Anyways, this last So What EP is awesome and is much better than their split with The Rustler in my opinion. 6 tracks of blazing Burning Spirits style, top-notch quality Japcore at its best. Can't believe this was their last release though. The whole EP rules! They should have done a full-length LP with this last lineup before breaking up....!!!!

The 12" version of this single isn't so hard to find, however this lesser-known 7" version is pretty rare. Would be a nice addition to The Stalin/Michiro Endo collection. The front cover artwork was done by a cult Japanese comic artist Suehiro Maruo, who also did The Stalin "Mushi" picture LP artwork. GNP was the newly established label by Michiro.

Post-The Stalin solo project band(The Gay-Nou Brothes) of Michiro with Jun Shimoyama from The Roosters(Burst City!) etc. The first full-length release under the concept of what he called "Grotesque New Pop", an essential mix of punk/new wave/post-punk, plus the usual Michiro craziness. A year after the several GNP releases, he formed the new bands Video-Stalin and Paranoia Star. While Video-Stalin was around for about two years and very active, as far as I know Paranoia Star played only a few gigs and released one LP which contains a few re-recorded early tunes of The Stalin.

Kikeiji + Masturbation!! Transformer was a short-lived ADK Records-related band consisted of ex-Masturbation singer Hiryu, ex-Kikeiji/Aburadako guitarist Hiroshi, and Tatsushi who played in both Kikeiji and Masturbation. 100% ADK Records sound! Think of a cross between Kikeiji, The Stalin, Sekinin-Tenka and Masturbation. Awesome dark and solid sounding hard punk, but Transformer's songs are more uptempo, punkish and not as gloomy as Masturbation. I'd say they're much more comparable to The Stalin or Kikeiji. Great record! Worth checking it out if you're into the ADK related and similar bands. Needless to say this 12" is very rare and really tough to come by. It's the original 1st pressing on black vinyl. Oddly the 2nd press is on the picture disc.

A mysterious official release that was sold at the selected shops in Tokyo and Osaka only. This is the studio demo with the female vocals(rumored to be Chitose from The Comes?) on some of the songs.

The 1st EP from their pre-thrash metal era. Very HC influenced Japanese metal. It's like a perfect mix of old school speed metal and the Gastunk/Ghoul/Poison/Mobs-like metallic HC sound. United was also on the legendary Hold Up Omnibus LP. Max from Ghoul and The Trash are listed on the Special Thanks list. If you dig that metal-punk sound of the G.I.S.M. "M.A.N." LP, you probably will enjoy this as well. Unplayed old stock copy!

Original Captain Records pressing(later reissued by Více Records). This is the pic. 12" issue of their '85 gig freebie flexi, with an extra track added. Also, two of the songs(3 Years & D-Day or Lost Day) on this 12" originally appeared on the rare "L.C.D.D."(La Caduta Degli Dei) 1st flexi from '83. Totally killer, speedy and hard-hitting punk tunes. The 1st flexi was produced by Michiro Endo(The Stalin) and came with his infamous "Ing,o!" zine. The Willard was formed in '82 and broke up once in '83, then the singer Jun joined The Stalin as a guitarist and the drummer played in The Execute, until they were reformed in '84. There's The Stalin interview in "Ing,o!" Vol.4 with Jun as their new member.

Awesome 4-track double EP includes the exclusive live version of their early classic tunes "Punx Sing A Gloria" and "Outlaw". Very nice packaging as well. The singer Jun joined The Stalin as a guitarist and the drummer Kyoya played in The Execute while The Willard was temporary broken up in 1984.

Here's another one of those lesser-known, but really fucking good yet hard to find Japanese records from the '90s. Occasionally seen on the want lists. Took me a while to get myself a copy, too. While the Poison Cola tracks are excellent, all the Blood Feast tracks rip so damn fucking hard(imo) that the Poison Cola side hasn't been played as much on my turntable. These Blood Feast tracks on this split might be even better than their later EP's which I thought were great also. No crust influence at all, just pure, driving fast and intensely blazing Japcore tunes at it's best. Done extremely well comparing to many of the generic/mediocre trad. '80s Japcore styled bands from that era(i.e. Like some of those MCR or Dan-Doh releases that nobody gives a shit about, the shittier ones). Split release by Discrete and Poison Cola's label Bater Records. Like many other Discrete releases, only 500 copies of this 7" were pressed. Oh, and the artworks on the sleeve and inserts look very cool as well. By the way, Poison Cola was formed in '85. I guess this split was their first vinyl release after putting out a bunch of demos. Too bad, because they could get a lot of fans if they had a release or two on Selfish Records. The "Night Of The Living Dead" comp. 7" on Bater Records is also worth tracking down, though it's not an easy record to come by either. P.S. Z / S.D.S. / Don Don / Dooms Day / Beyond Description / Jhishin-Kajoh(自信過剰) / Bullshit / Fuck Geez - What makes this tape awesome is that it contains the rare Z tracks recorded in 1986 and 1988 when they were still playing raw-as-fuck noisecore. The '86 track might be from the demo tape that came out prior to the "Violent Action" flexi('86). The other track "Not Dead" should be completely unreleased elsewhere. The comp tape itself was released in 1990, but their tracks are older recordings. Their split EP tracks from 1991 sounded pretty different and aren't as good as the earlier stuff. That one doesn't seem so popular among fans. The "I'll Gather Up" comp 8" also has the late '80s material by Z. This tape also has some of the earliest S.D.S. materials which aren't included on any of their other releases. This is the rare original copy with the labels on both sides of the cassette. I think it was put out by the Z member.

Death Side / Ghoul / Poison Arts / Final Bombs - This is the second compilation by Poison Arts' old label. 4~5 tracks by each band. The best thing about this release is probably that a rare exclusive Death Side track called "Going My Way" is on it. Oddly this song isn't included on their official discography double CD for some reason. Anyway, this whole LP rips hard!!!

Bastard / Asbestos / Don Don / SiC / Complete / Sweats / Sicilian Blood / F.V.K. / Idora - All the bands' recordings are exclusive to this rare comp. The Bastard material is not even included in the official discography CD. Different version of the classic tune "Wind Of Pain"!! The Sicilian Blood songs are very good on this comp., with that Gauze sounding, in-your-face Japcore style. Oddsness label was made only to release the "Smashing Oddsness" 8" EP(Deathside, Crück etc.) and this LP. Sweats featured the ex and later members of Rocky & The Sweden, Headless, Systematic Death, Idora etc.

This is an early Hold Up release before they started to also use an alternate label name Noise Room and the NRR catalog number. Contains the earliest materials by some of the best, classic Japcore bands. Many of the songs can be heard only on this record. The dude in the photo on the front sleeve is Jhajha from Lip Cream. Also in the photo is a daughter of the co-owner of the Hold Up Records stepping on a "doll"(hint hint...)

S.D.S. / Atrocity Exhibition(pre-C.F.D.L.) / Naüsea - An absolutely killer compilation of some of the best early Japanese crust bands(all from Nagoya). It's a pretty hard to find flexi. C.F.D.L. used to be called Atrocity Exhibition. Often confused, but their 1st EP was actually released under the name of A.E. and "Crazy Fucked Up Daily Life" is the EP title. The S.D.S. tracks are some of their first recorded materials. What makes this flexi really special is the rare appearance by the Japanese crust legend Naüsea, featuring the later Unholy Grave singer Takaho Komatsu. Ultra-harsh and brutal metallic crustcore ala Doom, E.N.T., Sore Throat, Abraham Cross etc. Naüsea only had tracks on a couple of obscure comps, I think.

S.K.V.(G.I.S.M.) / Chelsea(Death Side/Paintbox) / Hiyori / Ogreish Organism(Pill and Minoru from Lip Cream, and Zigyaku from Gudon/Bastard/Judgement) / Shinji Kuroki(ZOA) / Knob / Aya /Hiroshi Sekiguchi(Aburadako/Kikeiji) / Gazelle(Asylum) / Yanma & Ohshima - Very rare and obscure CD-only release featuring Sakevi's infamous side project S.K.V., the only ever solo material by Chelsea with the guest recording members like Mukachin from Death Side, Judgement etc. Chelsea did the main vocals(!!) and guitars on this amazing 20-minute long track. Ogreish Organism was the band consisted of Pill(Lip Cream/G-Zet/Asylum),Minoru(Lip Cream/The Comes) and Zigyaku(Gudon/Bastard/Judgement/Asylum). Contains the three S.K.V. tracks, with the guest recording members include Act(L.O.X./Orange) on bass, Noboru(Virus/Asylum) on guitars/bass, as well as the members from Tetsu-Arrey, Geshpenst and Accomplice. By the way, Noboru's old band Virus played some awesome, HC sounding thrash metal!!(Check 'em out on Youtube)

All the other bands besides Gruesome are quite obscure and unknown, but the members from Bugs Bunny, White Ropes and Ghapps went on to form some other great bands in the '90s like Rough Trade(R3C), Sonic Omen etc. I think somebody from one of these bands also played in City Indian. A complete copy with the release gig flyer, insert and logo sticker. This is actually an unplayed/unopened stock copy and is still in the original resealable outer sleeve.

The Swankys / No Cut / Curse / Lydia Cats / Craps / Jokers / Infers / Android Futures - Rare! Limited vinyl issue of the compilation tape, originally released in '87. Another cool '80s Kyushu punk compilation. Compiled and produced by Watch from The Swankys. One very notable band on this record that probably nobody knows about, Curse, plays some killer mid '80s Kyushu styled buzzsaw noisecore ala Gai, Confuse, Sieg Heil or Gess. This is probably their only ever released material on vinyl. Comes with a promo-only demo flexi of The Last Child. The large booklet insert looks cool, too.

S.K.V.(Sakevi/G.I.S.M.) / Tetsu-Arrey / Brainshakes(ex-Ghoul/G.I.S.M.) / Doom / Hellchild / Multiplex / Ruins / Def Master / Cocobat / Jesus Save / Scrap Tambourine / Coaltar Of The Deepers - This unknown CD-only release is rare as hell and REALLY hard to come by. Killer band line-up with wide variety of music including hardcore/punk, grindcore, thrash/death metal, industrial, noise/avant etc. A crazy compilation, indeed. What makes this CD special is that the rare appearance by Tetsu-Arrey, S.K.V. and Brain Shakes. S.K.V., the G.I.S.M. frontman Sakevi's infamous noise/avant/experimental project. The name stands for Swastika Kozmic Victorz, She Killed Vicoius, or Slug Kidney Vivisection. Contains S.K.V.'s first recorded material and on this recording Jojo Hiroshige from Hijokaidan(king of noise!) plays the guitar!!!(yes, you heard it, right. Jojo on guitar. Sakevi + Jojo = !?!?!?) The S.K.V. page in the booklet features another twisted and weird collage art with some hidden political theme done by Sakevi-chan. I wonder if the guy Carlos that's listed in his thanx list is the singer from Jesus Save. Sakevi/GISM are/were very close to Genoa and those Strange Records and Stinky Records related thrash bands. Yes, I pay attention to such a small detail. Kinda geeky, I know... Besides this one and "The War" CD('04), there's another compilation called "N.O.S."('95) that S.K.V. appeared on. Tetsu-Arrey with one of their earlier recorded materials and their track here is an absolute smasher! Really powerful and thrashy. The guitar riffs sound a bit more metallic than any of their other stuff I've heard. The guitarist who played on this recording is different from the one on the 1st LP and is not Jotaro either. I think it's the only recording with this guitarist. The song "Starting Over" was later re-recorded for their 1st EP with a different lineup(w/ Jotaro on guitars) in '96, however this '93 original version sounds quite different from the EP version and is much, much better. Brain Shakes was a short-lived, Motörhead lovin' band by Ghost(ex-Ghoul & G.I.S.M. bassist). He does the vocals and plays the bass on this CD. Not so many people even heard of them but they have a full-length CD called "Go Go Brainshakes"(Strange Rec., '93) out under the name of Ghost, with the guest guitarists and drummers from Gauze, City Indian, Casbah etc.

Really cool comp with a bunch of classic bands as well as a few obscure ones. I'd say this LP must've been a sort of good document of the mid '80s Japanese HC bands from all over the country at that time.

This is the much harder to find, original 1st pressing on Selfish Records, with the original Lip Cream artwork on the back sleeve(the KKK dude with a Lip Cream bullet logo on his dress whipping a tattooed naked chick!). The '87 U.S. reissue on Pusmort Records pops up for sale pretty often, however this original one is rarely seen for some reason, unlike many other Selfish releases from the same era.

Guerrilla Urbana(a.k.a. Ataque Frontal/Peru) / Guerrilla Urbana(Spain) / No Lip(Japan) / Doc Wör Mirran(Germany) / Büld(Denmark) / Armatrak(New Zealand) - Extremely rare and obscure, mid '80s compilation featuring Ataque Frontal when they were still called Guerrilla Urbana before they've changed their name in order to avoid hassle from the authorities. This is the only release by them under the name of Guerrilla Urbana, besides the '85 demo which ended up being a split tape with HHH from Spain. Also on this great comp are some good bands like Guerrilla Urbana from Spain and No Lip from Japan, with Roger from SiC and Dead Cops.

The other Dessert members were/are in Sekinin-Tenka, Bloodberry(ex-G-Zet), Idiot Idolaters, Laughin' Nose, The Pogo, Kenzi & The Trips etc. As you can imagine from their background, these guys sure know what they're doing and you know what to expect from Dessert. 120% Burning Spirits style traditional metallic Japcore ala Death Side, Judgement,Crude, Nightmare, Warhead, Forward etc. Awesome throaty vocals as well. They did a great Disarray cover on the other release. This 4-track EP is a totally heavy-hitting smasher. The vinyl looks amazing, too. It's on a clear vinyl with some clear pink parts mixed. Nice glossy packaging.

This is the original pressing on Subvert & Deny label from Chicago. The later band issued copies came in a regular sleeve with black ink, and no label address printed. The guitarist from Limp Wrist and Acid Reflux was in this band. Great, raw and loud HC with raging screaming vocals. Not another "Dis" band! Completely unknown band but this is actually one of my favorite '90s records from the U.S. Well worth checking it out.

Think of a cross between Aburadako, Kikeiji, and The Stalin. If you like these bands, you'll love Doku-Buta! Another unknown but awesome ADK/The Stalin worshipped hard punk here. They even stole part of The Stalin lyrics and used it in one of their songs called "Egoist". The band bio printed on the sleeve says Doku-Buta is ex-Byogentai. I wonder if it's the same Byogentai that the L.S.D. singer was in!? Includes 7 tracks. Very rare!! Here's a review taken from an old MRR issue: "Translating as "Poison Pig," I expected a bit more weirdness than supplied, but this slab of plastic contains some neat tracks. They can do thrash, punk, proto-punk -- all with verve and gnarly-ass vocals and guitar. Reminds me a bit of early PERE UBU." ----- (Pere Ubu?! WTF...?)

Speedy and melodic punk from Osaka. Really cool band that was actually quite well known in Japan back in the late '80s. Melodic but not in the "typical" bay area punk rock style. Definitely more in the vein of those British melodic punk bands from the late '80s to early '90s, with that Japanese punk catchiness. Very unique and original style of punk rock. Kinda hard to compare them to any other bands.

Allright, this is Down By Law from Japan, not the boring ass Epitaph band from the U.S. with the same name. Almost nobody knows about this band, but this EP rips hard as hell. Fast and heavy, straight-forward Japcore with great noisy guitar!! Great cover artwork, too. Could easily be on Selfish Records if it came out a few years earlier. Some of their songs remind me of Outo. Down By Law existed from the late '80s to early '90s. As far as I know, this is their only ever vinyl release by them.

What an amazing band! This is a great EP. The Stalin, Sekinin-Tenka, ADK Records(Kikeiji, Aburadako etc.) styled dark and mid-tempo punk meets lo-fi noise punk ala Flipper. Also I hear the slight Friction or Speed influences in some of their songs. What you get on this 5 track EP is mixture of all that good stuff. Absolutely unique and original style of punk rock, I must say. Man, I just love this record so much. Finally managed to find an extra copy, so here's one for sale. It was released on Pafe Records, a small label from the countryside of Japan(Toyama pref.), that put out some cool local obscure punk, hardcore and wave stuff. Every single release done by this label is so damn hard to come by. A very rare piece of Japanese punk history. I probably won't get this record again.

Split release by AGE's Dewa Records and a Boston-based label. (A review taken from some blog) Debut EP by Niigata’s HEARTWORK, a record that turned many heads among North American punks. It’s a shame, then, that now Dewa alone have delivered the band’s sophomore EP, a ripping three-song set that deserves every bit as much attention as its predecessor. HEARTWORK’s music hasn’t changed a bit— quick, driving blasts of purist hardcore punk that recall classical US (Negative Approach, Minor Threat), Japanese (Lip Cream, Systematic Death) and even some early UK bands. The pace is set by a consistent galloping beat, fortified by prominent bass, accompanied by shouted vocals and all driven along by a non-stop buzzsaw guitar that occasionally leaps into tasteful leads but never loses the essential momentum.

Early Japanese punk masterpiece! The only ever original studio album by this legendary band, featuring the now Akutagawa Literary Award-winning author Kō Machida(Kou Machida). He was Inu's singer under the name of Machida Machizo. Inu was formed in 1978 and broke up in 1981 shortly after the album release. Machida also appeared in the cult cyberpunk film classic "Burst City", with The Stalin, The Roosters etc.

"L.O.X." stands for Lip Cream, Orange, and X. The project band by Naoki(Lip Cream), Act(Orange) and Yoshiki(X, the legendary metal band). Act also played a bass for S.K.V.(Sakevi solo project) in '95. Originally called Masami & L.O.X., with the ex-Ghoul singer on vocals. Their '88 live recording with him is included on the rare Masami 3CD & 7" box set on Sunshine Sherbet. He obviously hasn't done anything else with L.O.X. afterwards as he was in a coma since '89 til his death in '92. L.O.X. was such an unique project that featured several different Japcore singers doing vocals for them both live and studio. There's a kick-ass boot live video with Tokurow(Bastard/Judgement) singing for them exists(search "LOX Yoshiki" on Youtube). On this 7-track album, the each song has a different singer(except Toshi on the 2 songs). The main vocalists are Ishiya(Death Side), Butaman(Tetsu-Arrey), Toshi(X), Ranko(The Continental Kids), Koh Ito(Fools) and even Naoki sings on an entire song! Yes, Naoki from Lip Cream doing vocals & guitars. Mix of wide variety of music style from hardcore, punk, metal, thrash to rock'n'roll. It's the only ever release(besides that weird track on the Masami/Ghoul tribute CD) by them and is on a great label S.E.X./Sunshine Sherbet that also put out the Tetsu-Arrey 1st LP/CD, Masami solo LP, The Gaia 1st CD, Nickey & The Warriors 12", The Continental Kids LP's etc. Here's some more useless(?) infos for few obsessive collectors out there. This label was ran by the same dude from Ducasse Label(Kikeiji, Real EP's etc.) and Wechselbalg Records, who also runs I.D.N.(Inner Directs/I.D. Japan) which is a large distributor that has a HUGE tie to Sakevi, and exclusively distributes the G.I.S.M./Beast Arts releases. This is some really good straight-forward, fast Japcore that reminds me a lot of the late '80s Selfish Records stuff especially those fast, in-your-face HC bands like Systematic Death, Outo, Lip Cream, Mad Conflux, Crück etc. Short, fast and furious!! Well worth checking it out. Their only release besides a few tracks on this great late '80s compilation tape called "Suck My Dick!" with Crow, SDS, Acid, Crück, Asbestos etc. Another awesome obscure band that almost nobody has even heard of. Strange band name though. If you wonder, "Telephon Club" was sort of like a phone sex thing that was huge in Japan back in the '80s. Here's a review taken from an old MRR : LOVEZHE - "Crazy" flexi. A two-song, one-sided red flexi that's got thrash with. hooks played with abandon . Fun, though not really. "crazy."

Matsuji "Dead Voice" 7" EP - Slice, 1987, Japan, (No Cat. #) - $70
This is the super hard to find EP unlike any other releases by Slice Records(Poison Arts' old label). And this is the first release by the label. It almost never pops up for sale even in Japan. The music is so fucking brilliant and the sleeve design is cool too. 6 tracks of drivin' fast metallic Japcore with some catchy hooks!! Plus, the excellent guitar riffs as well. The thick vocals remind me of Ishiya from Death Side/Forward. The songs on this EP sound so original and don't quite sound like anybody else. Matsuji sure knew how to create their own music style and did it so damn well, especially how they mixed raging fast Japcore and super catchy parts. If you've heard their awesome tracks on the "Attack Of 4 Tribes" compilation on Selfish Records, you already know how great this band is. Slice Records also put out a few more good records like the Poison Arts flexi, Sqwad(ex-Ghoul) flexi, Clod EP, "Nobody's Fault" LP(Poison Arts, Nira-Kodomo, Rose Rose etc.) and "Game Of Death" LP(Death Side, Ghoul, Poison Arts, Final Bombs). Just an additional note... This EP came out in '87, however many of the online resource sites say '85. I know Poison started their "Slice Gigs" in '85, but the label was established a few years later. Ultra-raw and primitive sounding HC/Punk that's comparable to Lixomania, early Cólera, Gx3 etc. I don't think this CD is available anywhere in the U.S. It's probably out of print, too.

ADK Records styled, dark and fast-pased metallic punk! Roger from Dead Cops/SiC was in this band. Appeared on various foreign and domestic comp's. Released on the same label that also put out the Corruption Of Peace LP, Masami(Ghoul) EP, Warriors EP etc. Thought I'd waste a bit of my time again and go on writing some interesting(?) episode regarding this lesser-known Tokyo-based label(with a criminally embarrassing name...) coz probably not so many people know about it. This label was ran by a dude from the legendary punk shop called "Jim's Inn" and Sakevi's Beast Arts was originally part of T.P.C. Records(they used the same contact address) The "M.A.N." LP was planned to be released on T.P.C., however it ended up being the first Beast Arts release as Sakevi decided to establish his own label in the last minutes, although the LP was already advertised in the T.P.C. release ads.

Heavy and brutal thrashcore with a powerviolence/fastcore touch. Here's a review for their 12" taken from Profane Existence: "No Think deliver again with this 8 song 12" 45. Total rip-roaring thrash with all the right formulas; short, sweet and to the point. A definite improvement in song structure, etc since their EP. Like most Japanese thrash records, there are either poorly translated lyrics, or all in Japanese. Nonetheless, this record rips in every way possible. This has instigated many a rock-n-roll crazy nights."

The photos, interviews and articles of Gauze, Hanatarash, The Willard, Chaos UK, AA Rec., U.K. HC scene etc. The ads for Ghoul EP/Hold Up/Noise Room, KPP, AA Records, Last Bomb, and tons more cool stuff in this issue. Special Sakevi issue. The main concept of this issue is "Death". This ultra-rare, awesome mag was edited and published by Sakevi from G.I.S.M.(Co-edited by John Duncan!!). Lots of insane pics, artworks, interviews and articles about topics like war, death, execution, politics etc. Written in both Japanese and English. Not all of them, but most of the main, interesting contents were translated into English. Glossy, full-page color and b&w photos of Hanatarash, Hijokaidan, Psychic TV etc. Very rare full-page ad for the G.I.S.M. video release with a large live pic of Sakevi, Lip Cream ad, C.O.P. LP/T.P.C. Records ad, Hold Up Records ad, full-page Selfish Records ad etc. Sakevi himself interviewed the following people: John Duncan, Hanatarash, Medical examiners from Tokyo Medical Examiner's Office(Yes, the autopsy/death stuff here. There's actually a pic of Sakevi with the two examiners taken during the interview.),Mental hospital inpatient(No bullshit. Remember, it was done back in '85 and was in Japan...) etc. John also did a few other interviews. Some of the other interesting stuff to read are the How To Kill article and the personal short letter sent to Sakevi by the political prisoner/anarcist members of East Asia Anti-Japanese Armed Front. Very professionally done underground mag with the glossy covers and absolutely amazing contents.

Total Friction worship!!!!!! Reminds me of Speed, too!! I don't have much infos about this unknown early Japanese punk band, but according to the "Punk Tengoku" guide book(by Doll), they were from Sapporo city. Quite rare to see this style of bands from that area in the early '80s. Great raw primitive punk rock with a sharp edge. I'd totally recommend this to anyone who likes Friction, Mirrors, Speed, Lizard or the other Tokyo Rockers related bands from that era.

Produced, engineered and released by Tam(The Stalin/Typhus/G-Zet/ADK Records). I like most of the Real releases, but this 7" and the 8" on Ducasse label are their best in my opinion. Solid and hard sounding punk with sharp guitar. Probably one of the most overlooked, yet harder to find ADK releases. Never seen it for sale elsewhere outside of Japan. Real was one of the very few ultra-political activist bands in Japan among the others with the similiar political stances(anti-emperor, anti-war, animal rights) like Theze, The Ballad, Nué, HDW, Hellnation etc. I remember some of them getting arrested in the chaos of the riot when the Showa Emperor died(X-day) in '89. This copy comes with the two East Asia Anti-Japanese Armed Front booklet inserts(not all copies came with them).

The first and only full-length LP by this amazing Japanese crustcore band featuring the singer from C.F.D.L. and the guitarist from Muga. Self-released on their own label Scruffy Krust Records. Very, very rare and hard to find nowadays. This LP is so fucking awesome and is definitely much better than their earlier EP. One of the best '90s Japanese crust releases in my opinion. Dark, metallic, and dramatic Japanese crustcore at its best. Nice silver "grim reaper" artwork printed on a black textured paper sleeve.

Yes, this is SS-20 from Japan, not those other bands with the same name from Mexico, Poland, Italy or France. They've existed from '87 and probably broke up not too long after this release which is the only record they've ever done as far as I know. Awesome solid sounding Japanese hard punk in the vein of The Stalin("Stop Jap" era), with a bit of ADK touch. Sounds very similar to The Stalin, actually. The songs are pretty catchy yet hard and strong. The chorus parts on the song like "Kill or Killed" and the title track are so damn good! The guitar riffs sound so shorp. Fucking brilliant. I love this style. Man, it was released in the early '90s but all the songs totally sound like if they were from the mid '80s. Could easily be on ADK or City Rocker Records if this came out back then. This 7" was self-released by the band themselves and sold only at their shows and an old shop in Kanagawa that one of the band members worked at. That makes it nearly impossible to find after near 20 years of its release. Some copies came with a release show flyer says "This EP is our final warning. Strictly limited to 300 copies only, sold at our future shows & mailorder. No repress!"(in Japanese). Includes 4 punkish tracks: The Fly, Kill or Killed, Under The Flag and I Never Change The Life.

Rare and unknown release on Ikka-Shinju's Premium Records. Very obscure one here. Includes 6 tracks of fucking killer metallic Japcore!! As far as I know it's the only non Ikka-Shinju release put out by their label.The band's only ever release besides the "I'll Gather Up" tracks. Wicked full-color sleeve artwork. Note: The band name is supposed to be pronounced in the Japanese way "Sāmé"(means a shark) not like the English word "Same".

Legendary Shizuoka-city Japcore! Produced by Minoru from Lip Cream. Split release by Selfish Records and Lip Cream's Dynamite label. This is one of the very few last Selfish Records releases that rarerly pop up for sale, like the Gauze 3rd LP('91), Death Side/Chaos UK split CD('93), Death Side 2nd LP('91), Assfort CD('91), Acid 2nd LP('91) etc. While most of the Selfish releases before '90 were pressed in the large quantity of a few thousand each or more, the later ones that came out a little before the label ended were pressed in the much smaller quantity and probably no represses either. Anyways, this last So What EP is awesome and is much better than their split with The Rustler in my opinion. 6 tracks of blazing Burning Spirits style, top-notch quality Japcore at its best. Can't believe this was their last release though. The whole EP rules! They should have done a full-length LP with this last lineup before breaking up....!!!!

This is "The Stalin Special" issue w/ photos, centerfold poster, interview, "Vietnam Legend" full-page ad, MRR reprint etc. Very rare to find The Stalin photo(centerfold poster) with their early '84 line-up incl. Michiro, Jun Bleed(The Willard), Teruya Ogata and Jun Inui. Perhaps this is the only one ever appeared in the zine. Large A4 size, thick pages.

Post-The Stalin project band under the name of "Michiro, Get The Help!" with Masayuki Ono(Allergy/The Stalin) and Jun Shimoyama(The Roosters). The 12" version of this single isn't so hard to find, however this lesser-known 7" version is pretty rare. Would be a nice addition to The Stalin/Michiro Endo collection. The front cover artwork was done by a cult Japanese comic artist Suehiro Maruo, who also did The Stalin "Mushi" picture LP artwork. GNP was the newly established label by Michiro.

Post-The Stalin solo project band(The Gay-Nou Brothes) of Michiro with Jun Shimoyama from The Roosters(Burst City!) etc. The first full-length release under the concept of what he called "Grotesque New Pop", an essential mix of punk/new wave/post-punk, plus the usual Michiro craziness. A year after the several GNP releases, he formed the new bands Video-Stalin and Paranoia Star. While Video-Stalin was around for about two years and very active, as far as I know Paranoia Star played only a few gigs and released one LP which contains a few re-recorded early tunes of The Stalin.

Gotta love the band name. I know absolutely nothing about these guys. Here's a review taken from some online blog coz I'm too lazy to even listen to it: Philadelphia punk rock from 1988. One reviewer called them "The Most Hated Band In Philadelphia", a badge the band wore with pride. Outspoken vocalist Rick D said what he thought, and the band didn't play scene politics.

Mega-rare gig freebie-only flexi! One of the hardest to find and most sought-after S.C. releases of all. Contains a killer, fast and hard drivin' punk tune which was actually the very first song that was ever written by them right after the band was formed, however, has never been officially recorded until 1984(except the live version of this song appeared on the "Go To Hell!" acetate 7" that they've pressed less than 5 copies in 1977) Although this studio track isn't available on any of their other records, it's one of the most well known and loved S.C. tunes to their older fans. The flexi was given away free to fans only at one show at Loft in 1984(says "Not For Sale" printed on it). Some online resources say that it was the first flexi to be given away through their "Cosa Nostra" fan club(existed '85~'90), but that's surely incorrect.

Cool sleeve artwork. This one is pretty rare to find. Would be a nice addition to any Swankys/Gai/Kyushu punk collection.

Kikeiji + Masturbation!! Transformer was a short-lived ADK Records-related band consisited of ex-Masturbation singer Hiryu, ex-Kikeiji/Aburadako guitarist Hiroshi, and Tatsushi who played in both Kikeiji and Masturbation. 100% ADK Records sound! Think of a cross between Kikeiji, The Stalin, Sekinin-Tenka and Masturbation. Awesome dark and solid sounding hard punk, but Transformer's songs are more uptempo, punkish and not as gloomy as Masturbation. I'd say they're much more comparable to The Stalin or Kikeiji. Great record! Worth checking it out if you're into the ADK related and similar bands. Needless to say this 12" is very rare and really tough to come by. It's the original 1st pressing on black vinyl. Oddly the 2nd press is on the picture disc.

Much sloppier than their great split with Yacopsae, but still a lot of charm. Released on the great TVG label, back when you could count on all of their releases being great. 13 trax of short, fast and furious. This is fucking raw.

Trade prefered. The only ever release by this legendary punk band from Tokyo that's quite well known in Japan. The music is so awesome and essential. Kinda like in the vein of Typhus or The Stalin, but Vid-Sex sounds much rawer and faster. Fast, raw, aggressive and loud as hell... some quality '80s Japanese punk rock is what you get on this fantastic 4-track EP. It's so great that I wish more people have heard their music, but I know this one is actually really tough to find these days even in the Tokyo area. Some of the Vid-Sex members are known to be the ex-members of Oxydoll, which is a super obscure band from Nagoya that's another legend in the Japanese punk history. Oxydoll was the first band of now the famous drummer Tatsuya Nakamura(The Stalin, Masturbation, The Star Club, The Genbaku Onanies, Nickey & The Warriors, F.O.A.D., Blankey Jet City etc.) who currently plays in a few bands including Friction(!!) and Touch Me with Michiro Endo from The Stalin(he is actually playing most of The Stalin's special reunion shows this year and early 2011). I've heard that the ex Vid-Sex singer currently does vocals for the band called Slip Head Butt with Muka-Chin(Judgement/Death Side) and another old member of Death Side. Their CD is out on Bloodsucker Records but I haven't heard it yet.

Here's an extremely rare and absolutely brilliant self-released 2nd EP by this long-running Japanese punk band. Definitely their best release ever. All the 5 songs included on this EP are totally awesome. The songs, sleeve artwork, layout and everything about this EP is perfect. Well, that's my opinion. This has been my all-time MOST favorite Japanese punk record since the '80s if you ask. I have so much good memories seeing them live back then. The title track is the most loved song of them amongst their fans in Japan. An amazing powerful punk anthem, indeed. Their early releases especially this one and the 1st flexi(produced and released by Michiro/The Stalin) sound quite different from the later releases which might sound "too melodic" for some of the HC punk fans out there. On this EP, speedy, melodic and catchy yet very strong sounding punk is what you get. One of the songs included here called "Suicide Romance" is totally fast and ripping hardcore. Another notable tracks is "Soldier Song" which is another killer punk tune. 1000 copies of this EP sold out within one week(!!) of its release. A little after this EP came out, The Willard broke up once and the singer joined The Stalin and the drummer joined The Execute. Got reformed sometime in the late '84 and they got really big shortly after. Just an additional note, the singer Jun used to sing for this short-lived early Japanese HC band called Middle→Class in '81 with Tam from The Stalin on guitar(probably right after he played in Typhus).

Original Captain Records pressing(later reissued by Více Records). This is the pic. 12" issue of their '85 gig freebie flexi, with an extra track added. Also, two of the songs(3 Years & D-Day or Lost Day) on this 12" originally appeared on the rare "L.C.D.D."(La Caduta Degli Dei) 1st flexi from '83. Totally killer, speedy and hard-hitting punk tunes. The 1st flexi was produced by Michiro Endo(The Stalin) and came with his infamous "Ing,o!" zine. The Willard was formed in '82 and broke up once in '83, then the singer Jun joined The Stalin as a guitarist and the drummer played in The Execute, until they were reformed in '84. There's The Stalin interview in "Ing,o!" Vol.4 with Jun as their new member.

Awesome 4-track double EP includes the exclusive live version of their early classic tunes "Punx Sing A Gloria" and "Outlaw". Very nice packaging as well. The singer Jun joined The Stalin as a guitarist and the drummer Kyoya played in The Execute while The Willard was temporary broken up in 1984.

The legendary band that G.A.T.E.S. were highly inspired by!!! Violent mix of raw thrash, hardcore/punk, Motörhead and Venom. Very original and essential sound, I'd say. Includes 4 tracks recorded circa '83/'84. Fucking loud, noisy and totally raging!! This EP was released after they broke up. Some of the members, including a super bassist Koh Morota(R.I.P.), went onto form Doom and F.O.A.D.(with Max from Ghoul & Jotaro from Mobs/Tetsu-Arrey). Great artwork on a picture disc. One of the BEST and harder to find Hold Up Records releases in my opinion.
